چکیده
The motion of a mechanical object -- even human-sized should be governed by the rules quantum mechanics. Coaxing them into state is, however, difficult: thermal environment masks any signature object's motion. Indeed, also effects proposed modifications mechanics at large mass scales. We prepare center-of-mass 10 kg oscillator in with an average phonon occupation 10.8. reduction temperature, from room temperature to 77 nK, is commensurate 11 orders-of-magnitude suppression back-action feedback and 13 increase prepared close its motional ground state. This begets possibility probing gravity on massive systems.

Motional Ground State Cooling Outside the Lamb-Dicke Regime
We report Raman sideband cooling of a single sodium atom to its three-dimensional motional ground state in an optical tweezer. Despite a large Lamb-Dicke parameter, high initial temperature, and large differential light shifts between the excited state and the ground state, we achieve a ground state population of 81(4)% after 100 ms of cooling, for the 85% of atoms that survive cooling and re-i...
متن کاملApproaching the Ground State of a Quantum Spin Glass using a Zero-Temperature Quantum Monte Carlo
Here we discuss the annealing behavior of an infinite-range ±J Ising spin glass in presence of a transverse field using a zero-temperature quantum Monte Carlo. Within the simulation scheme, we demonstrate that quantum annealing not only helps finding the ground state of a classical spin glass, but can also help simulating the ground state of a quantum spin glass, in particularly, when the trans...

متن کاملcritical period effects in foreign language learning:the influence of maturational state on the acquisition of reading, writing, and grammar in english as a foreign language
since the 1960s the age effects on learning both first and second language have been explored by many linguists and applied linguists (e.g lennerberg, 1967; schachter, 1996; long, 1990) and the existence of critical period for language acquisition was found to be a common ground of all these studies. in spite of some common findings, some issues about the impacts of age on acquiring a second or...
